Over the years, our Content team has developed a deep expertise in Tennessee's academic standards, graduation requirements, and assessments. We've summarized the considerations that have guided our product development below.
Tennessee uses the Tennessee Academic Standards for all core subjects. ELA and Math are based on CCSS with Tennessee-specific revisions; Science follows a NGSS-based framework.
Tennessee assesses students through TCAP in Grades 3-8 and TCAP EOC in high school. The ACT® is required and state-funded for all 11th graders, and TCAP EOC exams count for 15%-25% of course grades.

Standards-aligned practice mirroring TCAP rigor:
ELA & Math: Grades 3-8 (Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program, TCAP).
Science: Grades 3-8 (TCAP Science).
Social Studies: Grades 3-8 (TCAP Social Studies).
ACT®: Required for all 11th graders (state-funded).
TCAP EOC: Counts 15-25% of high school course grades.
SAT® & AP®: Widely used.

Tennessee requires 22 credits for graduation, including 4 ELA, 4 Math, 3 Science, 3 Social Studies, 1.5 PE/Wellness, 0.5 Personal Finance, 1 Fine Arts, and 3 Electives focus. Students take TCAP EOC exams in English II, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, and U.S. History.

Rigorous practice across grades and subjects, fewer students fall behind.

Multiple-choice is difficult to write, especially on the breadth of topics found on the AP® exam. Albert.io helps make managing this a lot easier by giving me a deep question bank aligned to every topic — my students get exposure to the full range of question types.
I love how the answer choices are explained to students. It helps them understand not just the correct answer but why the other options don't work, which is exactly how AP® graders want them thinking.
As a new APUSH teacher I was unsure about my ability to prepare my students for the specifics of the AP® exam. I found Albert and decided to pilot the program at my school. My students answered over 51,000 questions in preparation for the exam. My pass rate went from 44.7% to 64.2% and I had 12 students earn 5s.
I love using Albert.io to prepare my AP® Spanish Language and AP® Spanish Literature students for their respective exams. It has been a huge time saver, allowing me to spend more time preparing my lessons rather than creating assessments.
Albert is being used in my math classroom as a tool to reinforce what we're learning through practice and review. The data view for teachers makes it easy for me to see how students are performing on specific topics.
From 9th-grade Honors ELA students to 12th-grade AP® Lit students, I have found something relevant and rigorous for all of my students. The question banks are extensive, and the explanations provided to students are top-notch.

Intentional, aligned support was provided to first time AP® students in new AP® courses through partnership with Albert.
