Over the years, our Content team has developed a deep expertise in Mississippi’s academic standards, graduation requirements, and assessments. We’ve summarized the considerations that have guided our product development below.
Mississippi's College- and Career-Readiness Standards (MS CCRS) guide instruction in ELA, Mathematics, Science, and the Social Studies, and Albert's standards-aligned content library is a strong fit across every department. The Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) tests students in grades 3-8 and includes four high school subject-area (end-of-course) tests — Algebra I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History — each counting for 25% of the student's final grade in that course, giving high-stakes weight to every performance.
Standards-aligned practice mirroring MAAP rigor:
ELA & Math: Grades 3–8 (MAAP).
Science: Grades 5 and 8 (MAAP Science).
MAAP Subject-Area Tests: End-of-course exams in Algebra I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History (each counts 25% of the final course grade).
ACT®: 40% participation (class of 2022); state-funded.
SAT®: 51% participation (class of 2022).

Mississippi requires 24 Carnegie units for a Traditional Diploma. The MAAP subject-area (end-of-course) tests in Algebra I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History each count for 25% of the student's final grade in those courses, and Mississippi offers multiple graduation pathways so every student has a route to a diploma.

Students use Albert outside of class; the higher they score on each article or passage, the more points (of my own conversion) they score, and the accumulated score at the end of one 10-week quarter results in one grade. I choose a dozen or so passages that are only open for a month, after which the score is closed, and the grade is recorded.
I can depend on Albert's results for real progress monitoring. It is better than other resources.
Albert gives immediate feedback, and I feel that students will gain knowledge of content and will improve test-taking skills. I can assign this for outside of class time and discuss any challenges in class.
Not only does Albert provide proficient practice, but it also gives real-time data that they can see for themselves, thus increasing academic ownership.
Albert is being used in my math classroom as a tool to reinforce what we're learning through practice and review. Topics align with our lessons, and students complete questions to build their skills. Albert provides instant feedback, which helps them understand their mistakes and learn from them. It's also used to track progress and prepare for upcoming tests. The platform provides real-time insights into student performance, allowing me to identify which concepts individual students are struggling with and which areas the whole class may need to revisit.
As a new APUSH teacher I was unsure about my ability to prepare my students for the specifics of the AP® exam. My pass rate went from 44.7% to 64.2% and I had 12 students earn 5s. Albert may not be the only tool that led to our success, but it was definitely a game changer.
