Albert knows Delaware

Over the years, our Content team has developed a deep expertise in Delaware's academic standards, graduation requirements, and assessments. We've summarized the considerations that have guided our product development below.

Delaware uses the Delaware Standards for ELA and Math (DELEXCELS), which are CCSS-based. Science follows the NGSS, and Social Studies follows the Delaware Social Studies Standards.

Delaware assesses students through the Delaware System of Student Assessments (DeSSA): Smarter Balanced (SBAC) in ELA and Math for Grades 3-8, DeSSA Science in Grades 5, 8, and 10, and SAT® for all 11th graders (state-funded).

Grades 3-8 Assessments

Standards-aligned practice mirroring DeSSA rigor:

  • ELA & Math: Grades 3-8 (Smarter Balanced, SBAC via DeSSA).

  • Science: Grades 5, 8, and 10 (DeSSA Science).

College & Career Readiness
  • SAT®: State-funded for all 11th graders.

  • PSAT®: State-funded for 10th graders.

  • AP® & IB: Widely available.

Graduation Overview

Delaware requires 24 credits for graduation, including 4 ELA, 4 Math (through Algebra II), 3 Science, 3 Social Studies, 1 PE, 0.5 Health, 1 World Language (or CTE pathway), and 3.5 Electives. Students must complete a CTE pathway or accumulate credits toward one. The SAT® is state-funded for all 11th graders.

Love from Delaware Educators

  • As a new APUSH teacher I was unsure about my ability to prepare my students for the specifics of the AP® exam. I found Albert and decided to pilot the program at my school. My students answered over 51,000 questions in preparation for the exam. My pass rate went from 44.7% to 64.2%, and I had 12 students earn 5s. My students scored above state and local averages in every single multiple-choice category. Albert may not be the only tool that led to our success, but it was definitely a game-changer.
